Localeway is operated by Gaëtan Dezeiraud, an individual entrepreneur registered under SIREN 820 609 535 and located at71 impasse Edith Piaf, 87220 Boisseuil, France ("we," "our," or "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: Name, email address, company name, and password
• Payment Information: Billing address and payment method details (processed securely by our payment providers)
• Profile Information: Optional information you choose to provide
• Communications: Messages, feedback, and support requests

2.2 Content You Submit

When you use the Service to localize your software or games, you and your workspace members submit:

• Source strings, keys, translations and their revision history
• Glossaries, product descriptions, notes and context for translators
• Files you import, and custom format definitions or samples
• Workspace data such as members, roles, invitations, AI provider keys (stored encrypted) and API keys (stored as hashes)

2.3 Automatically Collected Information

• Usage Data: Actions needed to operate and secure your account and workspaces
• Device Information: Browser type and operating system when included in technical requests or logs
• Log Data: Access times, requested resources, IP address and technical errors
• Cookies: Session cookies and preference cookies (see Section 8)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for:

• Service Provision and Account Management: To provide accounts, workspaces, translations, exports and support as necessary to perform our contract with you
• Billing: To manage subscriptions and meet accounting and tax obligations
• Communication: To send service updates, invitations, security alerts and support messages necessary to operate the Service
• Security: To detect, prevent and address technical issues and fraud, based on our legitimate interest in protecting the Service
• Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable legal obligations
• Marketing: To send promotional communications where permitted by law and, where required, with your consent

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We never sell your data. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, the content you submit, or the usage data we collect on our own website and app. We do not share it with third parties for advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models - content is only sent to an AI provider when you or a workspace member use the AI features with a configured API key (see Section 9).

We only share information in the limited circumstances described below:

4.1 Service Providers

We share only the data needed for the following providers to perform their services:

• Cloudflare, Inc.: hosting and delivery of the public website, security and related request logs
• Infomaniak Network SA: hosting and infrastructure for the Localeway application and its stored data
• Scaleway SAS: delivery of transactional emails such as verification, invitation, security and account messages
• Paddle: merchant of record for paid subscriptions, including checkout, payment details, invoices, applicable taxes, fraud checks and refunds
• AI provider selected by you: translation content is sent only when an AI feature is used with a provider key configured by you or your workspace

4.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to:

• Comply with legal obligations or court orders
• Protect our rights, property, or safety
• Prevent fraud or security issues
• Protect the rights and safety of our users

4.3 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.

5. Data Security

We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the Service and the data it processes. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to:

• Provide the Service to you
• Comply with legal obligations
• Resolve disputes and enforce agreements

Project content is retained while the relevant project or account remains active. Deleted content may remain temporarily in backups before it is overwritten in the ordinary backup cycle. Security logs and billing records are retained only for the period needed for security, dispute resolution, accounting and applicable legal obligations.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

• Access: Request access to your personal information
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information
• Deletion: Request deletion of your information
• Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format
• Objection: Object to certain processing of your information

8. Cookies and Local Storage

The public website does not currently use analytics or advertising trackers. The authenticated application may use strictly necessary cookies or local storage to:

• Keep you signed in: Authenticate requests and protect your account
• Remember preferences: Preserve settings you choose in the application

You can clear this data through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary storage may prevent parts of the application from working.

9. Third-Party AI Services

The Service lets you connect your own AI API keys (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Mistral and others) for AI translation, AI proofreading and format inference. When you use these features:

• Only the content needed for the request is sent: the strings being processed, their context and notes, your product description, and the glossary terms those strings contain
• Content sent to AI providers is subject to their privacy policies and terms
• We do not send your content to any AI provider unless an AI feature is used with a configured key
• You are responsible for compliance with your AI provider's terms

10. International Data Transfers

Some providers, including Cloudflare, Paddle and an AI provider selected by you, may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where we control such a transfer, we rely on an applicable adequacy decision, contractual safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or another lawful mechanism. Switzerland is recognized by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of data protection.

11. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service. Your continued use after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
